China warns against ‘vicious cycle' of decoupling from the West

Chinese Premier Li Qiang has cautioned against the economic decoupling from the West and defended China against accusations of dumping electric vehicles (EVs) and solar panels on global markets. Addressing international executives at the ‘Summer Davos’ forum, Li expressed concerns over the rise of protectionism, emphasizing the negative impact on the global economy. These remarks follow Canada’s consideration of imposing tariffs on Chinese EVs and the EU’s provisional tariffs due to alleged unfair support for Chinese companies. Li remained optimistic about China’s economy, highlighting promising signs of recovery and a growth target of approximately 5%.
